Managing Directors

Larry Maker’s business career has ranged from involvement in start-ups to billion dollar multinational organizations.  He is experienced as an owner-operator and as a senior leader in both multi-shareholder and public organizations.  Larry has experience in turnaround and crisis management situations.  His ability to achieve objectives as well as his expertise in strategic planning and implementation has distinguished him throughout his career.

In 1997, Mr. Maker negotiated the sale of Adelco Supply, a large distribution company of which he had become a principal.  Mr. Maker had been the chief restructuring officer at Adelco and had stayed on as the vice president and general manager to steward the turnaround.

After completing that sale, Mr. Maker became Senior Vice President, Marketing and Business Development for Unisource Canada Inc., a multi-billion dollar integrated logistics and distribution company.  At Unisource, Mr. Maker implemented new inventory processes, created a national account sales group and was instrumental in the creation of the web site and on line catalogue.  He led an enterprise wide profit review and sat on steering committee that selected and implemented a new warehouse management system to be used in both Canada and the US.

Mr. Maker left Unisource in 2001 and formed Soberman Maker & Associates Inc. a consulting firm associated with Soberman Isenbaum & Colomby LLP, Chartered Accountants.  The consulting firm focuses on M&A activities as well as helping businesses achieve substantial and lasting improvements though strategic planning and implementation.

In retail, as a principal of Carpet Systems International Inc., Mr. Maker started a company that grew from one store to twenty two over twelve years.  The chain produced the highest sales per square foot in the Canadian industry at that time.  He created a franchise organization from the chain and personally sold all of the stores to franchisees.

As a consultant, Mr. Maker has broad experience ranging from professional service providers, retailing, technology, food manufacturing, consumer packaging, lumber, distribution and logistics, manufacturing and distribution.

Mr. Maker holds a Business Degree and is a Chartered Accountant.  He has been active in the Toronto community where he lives with his family.
